We prepared the first version of FileForum:
http://www.desktopsidebar.com/fileforum.php. This is place where you can publish your panels, skins and slideshows.
Users will be connected with this page automatically from Desktop Sidebar when they choose “More Panels” or “More Slideshows” options. I think that much more users visit this page than forum. For instance NASA slideshow was downloaded 1500 times from this page in this month.
I think that it will be available for all users really soon. I published there a few plugins and slideshow but this is was for test purposes and before launching this site I want to switch those addins to theirs author. So please create account and send me details

I think that it will be even better if you set the background color so that plugins will have one color,skins will have another and so.
Did you noticed that even the slideshows are written as done by kdam?Or is it the true?

Woohoo! Another 1500 downloads, apparently that is my most popular slideshow.
Will there be a request option at the file forum as well or will users need to make requests on the forum still. As you said there are 1500 downloads of the NASA slideshow this month, there aren't even that many forum members.

Its probably under his name because he submitted them. You'll notice that your IPPanel is under his name as well. That is what he ment by "I want to switch those addins to theirs author."

YYY – We will try to make easier to distinguish addin type. Of course slideshows are created by acommonjo and as soon as he creates account I will switch ownership to him.
Acommonjo – I don’t think that we will duplicate forum functionality. But you can put there link to forum topic. User will be able to go to forum with one click. Check for instance eMule

Thanks a lot, it's great. yyy- there's an option to show only plugins on the top right corner (there seems to be a problem with it right now).
I don't think there needs to be an option for request in the file forum - this is what the forum (this one) is for.

That's fine. I was just curious. Also it doesn't look like the activation links are working from the emails. I register earlier in the weekend, but could activate then and just now I attempted to activate my account and got a 404 error. I can login though.

I think if they have the ownership of them (the author of the plugin is them) they should have that ability. That way you can upload the updates yourself.

Prism – of course you will be able to edit your panel information. Just register – send me your nick name and I will switch ownership of yours panel to you and you will be able to submit/edit/delete.
Acommonjo – indeed there are some problems with activation but you can login without activation. I think that you have create your account once again. The database was re-created a few hours ago

Found a little bug in the fileforum - when you first display the main page it is as if it is on page 0, and when you click "next page", you get to page one. Not that it will do any harm if it'll stay like that.

I've just registered (as KeithI) - can you change ownership of the Clipboard Viewer plugin please.
I like the idea of the fileforum - though I'm not sure about your choice of colours
One problem I found was that if you choose an item from the "Show" dropdown on the right-hand-side then it always says "0 files found".

Thanks for fixing my password. All is good now. Looking around the system for a while I can see that there are still several bugs in the system. Do you want us to post them here, or should we wait until you give the "FileForum Finished" message?

Yes,sorry but I forget things sometimes
When I registered first I saw the password box and then I thought how can I have a password-so I looked down and saw the "new account" option.When I tried to login again I forgot that I've already set my password.
I shuld really wait before I post.
And one more thing-about the colors-they are great
I like the bright colors but I think that you should set it so that plugins will be,for example,in red and skins in yellow and so on.It will look better and will make it easier for users to know which item is a plugin,a skin or any thing else.
And one more thing:I think that you should add more categories besides plugins,skins,slideshows...-Add also "other"-for general DS addins and "newsfeeds"-for exported newsfeeds.

I think thier should be some lines added in to the login, so that when you click the link it sync's with IPB forums user database that way if a user is reg at the forums he does not have to re-register....

I agree with DemonBob and yyy. It seems that most users would have the same nick for the FileForum and this Forum, so linking would be nice. Also, it would be helpful for us lazy folks if we didn't have to log in each time.

Actually all of the skins that was done by NY were made by me
(I called my self NY once).Those are D2 Blue,Green and White,Diversity,Cellphone.But I don't mind if you keep that way.Although I suggest you to delete them - they don't upgraded to todays builds.

I have got an idea that refers to the fileforum
Wouldn't it be useful if the popularity of a skin or plugin is calculated by the number of downloads per day/week instead of overall downloads?
So newer skin and plugins do also have a chance to get to the "top".
To equalize it you could add "sort by overall downloads"
This idea refers of course also to slideshows
