Sounds like you had the previous incarnation of this panel (formerly known as the Sticker Panel). Close DS. Nix that whole folder for the panel in your user folder and run the dspackage file again. You should have different results.
You may want to save the previous information to a text file before you nix it.
Let me know if you have a different error.

To me it sounds as if you have a copy of dsidebarpia.dll in the main DS install directory. Please remove it.

Funny how we both used "sounds" when we are typing on a messageboard on the Internet.

Yes I did, closed ds then removed it then got an error message regarding IPPanel so removed that plugin from the main folder
Then I installed notes editor with out problems....
Now what about ippanel?

This thread is the thread to use to reclaim the IP Panel. Though I think that yyy has already updated his dspackage with the correct install method.
Do the same process for IP Panel. Remove the existing traces, use the dspackage and you should get positive results. You should have no 3rd party panels in the program files DS folder. As the same for the dsidebarpia.dll, it should not be in there at all. You can use the dspackage files to reinstall your panels again.
You should expect an optional /codebase message and a successful installation of panel if you hit all the points above.

Major domo kudo's to yyy for making this panel the easiest to employ. Now, if I could only get the IP one to act with the same behaviour.
Thanks, Scott
Thank you all for your replies

.I hope you enjoy the panel!
Stuffedtiger79:
First of all I would like you to know that I invested many efforts in making this panel and as a first version panel I thought it is enough. You should know that developers of panels for DS are limited in their ability to program.I can't do everything, just what DS allows me to do.
Thanks for your replies

.
Now for the answers:
1: Note text is hidden when autofit is turned on (see screenshot)-
I know, that's why I added the important section in red in the first post and I have already asked about it.2: note title and text have shadows... ideally, title should be shadowed, not the content-
First-there's no such thing as title
All the text you are writing is considered as a note.About the colors-you can change it-go to %appdata%\desktop sidebar\plugins\NotesEditor\ and open the file NotesEditor.dsskin with notepad.Add to each color the lines that disable shadow(I hope you remmber how to do it since I forgot
) and that's it.3: large gap between title and content-
Again-the whole text is 1 note5: wordwrap doesnt work in details window
-Thanks for telling me,I hope I can fix it.7: add the new note option to the context menu of the panel title. when i first created the panel, i had autofit on... and there was a very very small gap below the title which i had to carefully aim and right-click so that i could add a new note...
-It is in the context menu-right click and you'll find it.8: Feature request: save space by including notes counter in the title bar
-Great idea
I'll probably add this option,if I can do it.9: feature request: ability to put the note as a sticky on the desktop when clicked on (similar to the outlook notes panel)-
I can't do whatever I want.Such option will take a lot of hard work and time and it won't be considered as a panel but as another program.However-DS build 69 will have floating panels which will allow you to do it and I have already saw such feature on kdam's bugs list
10: feature request: ability to change the order of the notes (now default is only the order in which the notes were created)
-I'll add it next version.11: hyperlinks (web and local files please)
-I didn't say that you can use hyperlinks.I'll try to do it next version.12: formatting
-It is a little bit hard for me to do it seperately from the dsskin file but you can customize the panel as you want.Just follow no. 2 above

I wrote a note but I cannot see what is in it. I suppose it will show, in the details window, the text of the note, but I pause the mouse pointer over the Note and .... nothing. Also I clicked twice in the note and the DS closed.
I'm sorry, can you try it again and tell me if it still happens?

hey yyy, thanks for your reply... i really do admire the work that the DS development team and all plugin developers are putting in. it really an awesome work that all you guys are doing and i can very well imagine the amount of time and affort that would go into this. i am sorry for my long list, i just thought that it was a really great panel. i do reallize it is easy to give ideas but take a lot of time and effort to implement them. my only intention was to offer all the suggestions i can to make your panel really really good. i will definitely wait patiantly for your future releases. i am already very impressed by the jobyou have done on the IPPanel and i have no doubt that you will do a similarly awesome job on this one too.
Thanks stuffedtiger79

.Always feel free to give ideas.I'm appreciate this.It helps the developers more than everything.

.I understand if it takes him some time to reply users.I do my best to give the best service to my panel's users.

Now it's OK vvv. The text message appears in the details window and in the notes panel, but it does not wrap the text.
Oooh no.

It closed the DS again. When I clicked somewhere between the Note Title and the Note it closed the DS. And the notes disappeared.
A suggestion I think that the Notes panel should only show the First line of the Text or instead of showing the text show a number and the text in the details window only.
Thanks for reporting.I'm sorry to know that you have pronblems with using the panel

.I'll try to fix it.You can turn off the text wrap so you want se the whole note inside the panel.

If you can add the possibility to set an alarm to each note
I will stop buggering everybody about this.
Is it possible at all?
If you want an alarm clock maybe I can work on something simple.Would you like it?
GoMa
Jul 9 2004, 07:44 AM
I think he means something like a reminder, not an alarm clock. For every note, you can set a time and it'll pop up a message with the note.
Yes but from other threads I saw that he prefers a real alarm clock so maybe I'll do it.
GoMa
Jul 9 2004, 07:54 AM
I think this feature should be incorporated in the current clock panel, rather than a whole new panel.
Yes,me either. But it seems like he can't wait to this to be done so I offer to do something temperory.

The problem is that I'm working now on fixing my computer

.For some reason my Internet stopped working and I had to fix some stuff...
So this is another delay for the next verison. Also I want to make a new panel so it also delayes the release-sorry.
Basically next release will have most of the features you suggested.Maybe I'll think of something new.

I'm thinking about making skins again

making skins is now really easy thanks to the skin editor... you should leave that to lil kids like me and work on the hard things like panel development, which is more suitable for your talents and skills
yyy
Jul 14 2004, 02:36 AM
Thank you

.I don't know if it is better for me to make a new skin or to develop a new panel or maybe even to upgrade the notes editor panel
I'll have to think about it.
By the way-making skins can be as hard as developing a panel.I appreciate the work of skinners the same as the work of panel developers.
