Hi,

I get a similar error too - with the same version. But only, if I had choosed the option "Display Detalis when I click at panel".
Nintulus
Please help... I am getting an error :

Font " Tahoma doesn't support Regular"

When I want to add any alarm & properties doesn't show up...
eitaneko
OK. I don't think I have any idea what is going on with my panel. I have never seen any of these errors. Do any other developers have any idea why my panel is spazzing out for some users?
GoMa
Nintulus, it seems like the Tahoma font doesn't exist or is corrupted on your PC. Reinstall it from the Windows CD into your c:\Windows\Fonts directory.
eitaneko - I think moehesse's comment is the verdict.

I tested it and also get the error when I select this option in the main DS Options.
When and what method are you using to open the detwin? Perhaps you should open a thread about it in Panel Development as to not add clutter to this one.

Sorry please. I didn't want to cause a confusion. But it is just that: If I select "Display detail when I point a panel". I don't get any error message. If I, however, choose "Display details when I click at panel", I get an error message, if I drive with the mouse about the alarm.

I don't understand the question about the method, presumably because i am a newcomer. What means "detwin"?
GoMa
Hi moehesse, I understand perfectly what you said. The question I asked was to eitaneko in regard to the internals of the panel. What you said helped me identify the problem - thanks! biggrin.gif
eitaneko
GoMa,
I'm using the IDetailsWnd.Create() method, which for some reason I'm thinking is obsolete?

The other thing is, the panel has defined actions to do when you click on it. Could there be a conflict with that DS setting?
GoMa
CreateTextDetailsWnd is indeed obsolete (that's what's throwing the error). The log shows the following:
QUOTE
21:13 .\ControlFactory.cpp 160 CreateTextDetailsWnd is obsolete. Please use CreateTextDetailsWnd2

Replace CreateTextDetailsWnd with CreateTextDetailsWnd2 and specify the few parameters it requires (the last parameter is cast to uint from one of the values of the EDetailsStyle enum).

Oh dear! This panel has been using a dsidebarpia.dll from 2005! No wonder there are issues...

GoMa...I understand the last two arguments, what is the first string parameter for?

Probably the panel id (class).

This appears to still be an issue. Nothing since Jan 20th? To bad, nice idea.
eitaneko
Apologies, my friend. I really do wish I had time to implement the changes I've been eager to make.

Hi, all! I'm sorry to post here, I'm sure it's not the right place, but I've looked for hours trying to figure out what was going on with my Alarm Panel. Which I love. And which I MUST use for work.

I have a brand new system Windows XP SP2, all the patches (just wiped the drive and reinstalled everything), DT version 1.5.116.0. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Alarm Panel (newest version) several times not knowing what else to do. hairpull.gif

Every time I hovered over the Alarm panel or over the alarm itself I would get the error message "TextOutput OnShowDetails function System. etc. etc." (I can send you a screen shot but I don't have the time to figure out how to put it in here.

The answer is .... (drumroll please) In the main Options windows for the Sidebar you CAN'T CHECK "Display details when I click at panel". That is what causes Alarm Panel to break.

If you change that option to "Display details when I point at panel" all is well!

And many apologies if this has been known by everybody for a while and I'm just slow figuring it out!

BTW, I'm a new convert from Google Sidebar which ate up ungodly amounts of my cpu (25 - 40%). So I am very pleased with my very well-behaved Desktop Sidebar at 4%.

In gratitude,
Celeste

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm not sure if it has been resolved before, but now we know. I think the reason is because I'm using some very old code when interfacing with DS. It's due for an upgrade but I have no time.

@eitaneko:
hejo, first thanks for this one!
would be fantastic if you could update a bit. think a lot of people are using it (its nr 4 in topten wink.gif).
i got the same error msg like celeste, but i need the "click panel"...

as a suggestion for a further development:
i am using the timer alarm often (cooking..) and it would be great if it runs just one time and not looping. showing the countdown in the sidebar would be also magnificent.

hoping you havent quit on thisone flowers.gif

Hi everyone!

Just want to add on something to CelesteInTexas' bug report. I also experienced this problem and found out by what it is caused (I didn't need hours though, just half an hour tongue.gif hah.gif *sorry couldn't resist wink.gif * )

Anyway, if you hower over the alarm it will display the alarm's details. If you pin the details window and hover over another alarm you will also receive the error message.

Dunno if someone else has discovered this in the meanwhile, cause this would make my post to be spam, wouldn't it? ohmy.gif

Really hope you find some time to fix this eitaneko. Your Alarm Panel is great.

eitaneko
Hi everyone.
Thanks for the bug reports. I suppose it's time I finished that rewrite I started. I'll see what I can do. I guess it's time to turn on the old PC... Been on a Mac for years now.
eitaneko
OK. I finished the code. I could use some testers, since I still can't replicate the problem with the details window. Any volunteers?
eitaneko
OK, since only one person has volunteered to test, I'll just attach the DSPACKAGE file here for anyone who gets around to it. Let me know if this fixes the error message with the details window or any other issues you find, as I rewrote the whole codebase from scratch.
