Hi, i just recently installed Royale_Metallic_Compact by antu^jamban for my sidebar skin, but i can't get the default winxp taskbar to skin over to the same color scheme. Am i doing something wrong? The sidebar comes out fine and i've been able to modify it to my own taste, but haven't figured out how to change the default taskbar/systray over. Thanks for the advice.

You'll need a Windows skinning program like StyleXP or Windowblinds or patch uxtheme.dll (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=140707)

After that, download and apply the appropriate skin.

Do you mean that you don't have the Visual Style?

i dled and patched that uxtheme.dll and tried dling different zipped desktop sidebar skins and still the default winXP taskbar remains the same. how do i change over the default taskbar to match the sidebar? i need to go find the appropriate taskbar skin?

Desktop Sidebar skins are different from WinXP themes (also called Visual Styles). DS skins are only used to skin DS's interface and can't skin the taskbar, start menu, etc. WinXP themes can be downloaded from various sites, try:
