Line Reader PanelFirst version released on November 27th, 2004.
Download from the
Extension Exchange.
This version includes:
- View one line from a text file.
- Specify the update frequency.
- View the whole file in the details window.
- Auto-wrap and RTL support.
No need for the .NET framework for this panel.
I release also the source code of this panel, which will hopefully help panel developers to understand the basics of the DS programming in C++.
The code is partly-documented.
You may continue develop this panel, and may distribute new versions without any permission. Just credit my nick "Prism" as the first developer.
I hope you'll enjoy the panel. I find it ultimate for a quotes panel - just make a text file with your favorite quotes and watch them shown.

Have you ever thought of using fortune databases in he panel? That would work very well for quootes.

I was working hard today on incorporating this into the TextReader panel... You should have said something, I could have worked on other things. Nevertheless, it's less work for me (or perhaps more work, to REMOVE it).

Heh.
At first I thought you'd developed a vi Panel and I was going to wonder why in god's name anyone would want to inflict that upon the world. ;-)
So... this is essentially a way to display things like a random quote, bible verse, tip/hint, etc?

A wonderful feature that I would donate time to assist. Please add a default to undock or dock. Also, define a seperate font attribute to control text appearence instead of sidebar default use.

a chance of getting this to display lines in random order?
also, i have the source of my quotes in parenthesis at the end of the line, and I notice that sometimes it displays like this:
....gentleness and patience.
((Collosians 3:12
Instead of like it actually is on the line:
...gentlesness and patience.
(Colossians 3:12)
Thanks

1. I'll do it after I finish with my next panel.
2. Any chance you ticked the RTL option in the panel?

Hi!
I'm working on a simple panel for mCubed's T-balancer and it's actually just a modification of your (Prism) Line Reader.
I just want to say thanks for the sourcecode and ask if it's ok if I use it.
For more info about T-balancer go to www.mcubed-tech.com
