New eMule Panel

Shows download and upload rates, now downloading files and sum of completed files during the current session.
Version 1.1 released on April 10th, 2005.

Modified eMule version 46c released on July 30, 2005.

If you upgrade to version 46c of eMule:
First of all, install the regular new version of eMule from the official site.
Secondly, download the attached file and replace the original emule.exe with the new one.

In order to use this panel, you'll have to replace your eMule.exe file with a file supplied in this message. The new version only changes the Online Signature feature, and contains the same code of the Official eMule version. The modified version shouldn't affect your downloads, preferneces or credit files, but take my advice and backup the original eMule.exe file.
If you use a mod of eMule, you can ask the mod's creator to integrate the source code which I'll supply in this thread, or you can change it yourself if you have any C++ compiler.

Version 1.1 features:
  • Several bug fixes, hopefully also the problem with details window and huge list of downloads. smile.gif
Users who have downloaded the modified eMule version shouldn't upgrade eMule also.
Version 1.0 features:
  • Shows global d/l and u/l rates.
  • Shows download's name, % of completed, and d/l rate for each download.
  • Shows how many files were finished in the current session of eMule.
  • Ability to define an update frequency.
  • Graphic details window.
Please replace eMule.exe with the newer attached eMule.exe, and only then install the panel.
The panel itself can be downloaded from the Extension Exchange.

In order to install this panel correctly, follow this steps:
  • Download the modified eMule version and replace the old one.
  • If you didn't enable your Online Signature, do it this way:
    • Open the "preferneces.ini" file which is located in the eMule config folder, usually "c:\program files\emule\config" using notepad.
    • Find the line which says "OnlineSignature=0" and modify it to "OnlineSignature=1".
    • Restart eMule.
  • Install the panel and enter the path of eMule (usually "c:\program files\emule") into the panel properties.

Thanks Prism. Hope the upload will be solved soon.
Prism
Everything works fine now. You are definitely allowed to start download everything. smile.gif
Prism
Modified eMule.cpp file is attached. Actually, only the OnlineSig() method has been changed.

I think I found your problem. I'm gonna take a look at the code in the next days, and hopefully release a fix soon.
Meanwhile, I suggest you to remove the panel. The eMule.exe shouldn't be replaced with the original one, though.
Jove
I do not open the list of DL (or open seconds ph34r.gif ) does not give problems.

Thanks for this magnify plugin... flowers.gif

Here's a question Prism: Is it possible to view the eMule information available through the web interface in a panel? I can't wait to try this panel, but the reason I ask is my eMule machine is not the same machine that I work with on a daily basic, they are actually a few hundred miles apart, and it would be nice to be able to remotely control my downloads without having to open up the remote session all the time. I am wondering the same about the Azureus panel, but I'll see about looking elsewhere for that answer.
Prism
I had thought about the web interface thing, but I couldn't get the info from there for some reason.
Prism
New version was released, download from the ExEx. Jove, I think that your bug is fixed. Please report. smile.gif

Thank you! smile.gif

I haven't seen too many comments about this panel. What do you think about it? Any suggestions etc?
tropi
My panel simply says, "Couldn't retrieve data." Is this because nothing has been transferred yet?
Prism
There are many reasons for this error message. The most reasonable reason is that the panel can't find the file, or it's corrupted.
Did you replace your old eMule file? Did you define correctly eMule's path in the panel properties dialog?
tropi
I did replace the eMule file and changed the path appropriately. I just redownloaded the file and reverified. It looks ok to me, as best I can tell.
DoitJust
Hey Prism.

Works excellent. Nice job.

One thing.

If you find this panel through the ExEx and don't bother to look
into this thread you'll miss that you have to d/l and replace
emule.exe
Maybe a little remark in the ExEx could save some confusion..

Thanks again!
Prism
tropi: Could you please attach a screenshot of your panel properties, and your DS log file, which is located under the Temp directory?

DoitJust: The link for the new eMule version is in the first line. I would have emphasized it if I could.

Prism
No, you are right. I have forgotten to explain how to enable the online signature feature.
I will update the first post with the relevant information tomorrow.
tropi, is that your problem too?
tropi
Indeed, this looks like the same problem I'm having. Thanks for the tip. smile.gif
Prism

thanks for the aid I have resolved the problem. hour of it I have an other, every time that I open sidebar I must install New eMule Panel, v.1.1 why it does not see it.
GoMa
This is usually caused because you have multiple installations of the panel.
Delete all eMule Panel installations - make sure you don't have folders named NeweMulePanel (i.e. NeweMulePanel, NeweMulePanel-1, NeweMulePanel-2...) in your plugins folders, which are usually located at c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Desktop Sidebar\plugins and c:\Program Files\Desktop Sidebar\plugins.
Now, install the panel again. Hopefully, the problem will go away.
Prism
Thanks, GoMa. smile.gif

new emule 0.46a don't go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prism
I will release a modified version of the new eMule release soon.
Eiffel
Hi

tried your plugin
found one little error

the emule logo in the detailed view isn´t showing
the problem is that the file is in
"C:\Programme\Desktop Sidebar\plugins\NeweMulePanel\" and not
as in the sourcecode of the detailed view page mentioned
in
"C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Amdpower\Anwendungsdaten\Desktop Sidebar\plugins\NeweMulePanel\logo.png"
Prism
I think I know how to solve this problem.

It will have to wait, though.
Exams time.
Prism
eMule file is updated to the newest version.
First of all install the official eMule, then copy the modified emule into the same folder.
Have fun. smile.gif
djsolidsnake86
is possible do a version for edonkey2000?
Prism
Does eDonkey support Online Signature or is open-sourced?
Trickstar
hmm, why does it only work if emule is connected to a server?
i prefer to use KAD-Connections, but the plugin won't accept this as "being connected". i can't imagine why...

cya
Prism
Maybe. I have to check it.

new emule 0.46b don't go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to use the mod Prism has made in order for the panel to work because the default eMule does not include the required functionality. Prism needs to compile the eMule source-code again with his changes for it to work, and this is not trivial I think.
Prism
It is quite trivial. I assume I can compile the new eMule (v. 46b) in a week. smile.gif
Prism
Modified version of eMule build 46c is available. Check first post.
I'll update the ExEx entry later.

Trickstar, I couldn't check my code yet. Will do it next week.

Could you translate it to English?
In order to remove a panel, close DS, go to C:\Documents and Settings\<userName>\Application Data\Desktop Sidebar\plugins and remove the panel's folder.
