Full Version: Services Plugin

Hi,

Well hopefully after getting the issue with the Labels on Detail Windows working, here is my first plugin. Probably not a mainstream one, in fact most people wont use it but anyway here it is.

This is a plugin to allow you to Stop / Start / Restart Services (and IIS if installed) from within DS. Saves me a lot of time having to go to the Services Control Panel and run from there - I have found that this is often faster too.

Just run DS and double click on the DSPACKAGE (attached). Use Panel Properties to select the Services to view within the Panel. Click on an Item to Start / Stop / Restart, Hover over the item to see details. Details window is a custom window but should paint using SkinManager.

If you have IIS installed then u can add an item for this in the List (It will always be put first). No details, but if u click the item then u can see the current Status and Start, Stop etc. Note that Stopping and Restarting IIS can take a few moments.

If anyone would like to make some better graphics for the Panel (for when items are Running, Stopped, etc) then I would be happy to put them in and credit u with the work.

If you find any bugs or have any suggestions then let me know and I will endouver to fix / update the plugin.

Regards,

Mark

Wow, I just realized this is a great idea. Do you think you could put Apache/Apache2 and MySQL in the list of "priority" services as well? Its much easier to pop over to DS than it is to find the Apache monitor among my try icons. Good work markgr!

*Edit*
Also, the details window is showing up at the top of my screen rather than down at the bottom where I moved the panel to on my DS. Is this intentional or something that can be fixed eventually?

Ah yes I'll move the details window - and I will add MYSQL and APACHE as well - in fact what I might do is add some sort of functionality where you can specify Items you want as priority items.

Glad that it is all working and that people like it smile.gif
