Great panel

But I think there's a problem with adding and removing currencies - sometimes it didn't update the panel after I clicked the OK button of the Panel Properties dialog box.
But that's a nice panel.

Excellent work. I really like the ease of use and how it looks. There seems to be something strange going on with the autofit, but I am not sure if it is the panel, the skin, or a combination of the two. Can someone try adding more than 5 and see if they get anything to happen? I will keep looking at it.
Again, good job...

Can't see anything wrong works fine for me. This panel is optimized to use DS 105 B90. That's what I'm using and it works fine for me.

It will not let you add more then 7 Items. I desided 7 because more then that will cause big delay in updating.

Does anyone experiencing similar problem?
This panel uses web service. Depending on your connection you may experience some delay in getting data. However all web service calls done asynchronously therefore they should not effect any other activities.
Little tip, if your connection is not very fast try disabling inverse display. By doing that you will cut web service calls by 50%.

I have a fast connection (1.5 MBps) so it's probably not this. Maybe it's something on my computer.

Hi
Win XP Pro SP2, DS v1.05 b90, MS ISA Proxy server, 2mb ADSL
I'm having problems with this panel. The only thing I can get it to adjust is deselecting inverse. If I deselect currencies, the panel ignores my selections. If I change the home currency, the panel also ignores the changes.

I just had to do a repair of Windows XP Pro and am dealing with a lot of flaky issues. One that came up is with this panel. I uninstalled and then reinstalled DS and added everything from the ground up, but when I try and add this panel I get the following message:
Cannot create Panel ExchangeRate.
IPanelCreator::Create Panel Returned: File or assembly name o1urcykd.dll, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
Do you want to disable ExchangeRate plugin?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

I am not capable of writing a panel, I am however an IT professional. I install DS & it runs for several months. I add the Currency panel & DS crashes, noting also that the currency panel does not appear to work correctly & ignores all changes except the INV on/off switch. Since uninstalling & reinstalling DS with default settings & adding all my panels except the Currency panel, DS has been stable for a couple of days. This trial & error points to Currency as the reason for the DS crash. Adding to that, I was unable to change the default Panel home currency & the panel ignored any removed or added currencies tells me that the panel has issues.
If you ask me to configure it properly, what configurations are there apart from checkboxes to add & remove currencies & a drop down to change the home currency?
Regards

Could you check if 1.0.1935 is actually downloadable?
The version of
this File seems to be 1.0.1930.
I am having problems in getting the currencies of what I have chose... It accepted my setting modifications but the panel remains the default ones. Do I have to wait for a long time for it to refresh?!

Just downloaded and seems to be 1.0.1930 ...
Installs and runs but you seem to have the original position of the panel properties popping up to the left of the sidebar. I have the sidebar on the left part of the screen so it appears off screen. (Fortunately it creates a task icon for the properties page and I was able to move it...)

Can you please add an option to change the text colour.

As I mentioned in one of mine previous posts I have developed this panel using IStyle 2 skin utilizing default settings. It's being successfully tested with the few different skins however I'm pretty sure there will be few odd ones out.
Feel free to modify ExchangeRate.dsskin to you liking

Found out that my problems have to with the .Net Framework and not the panel. When I repaired my XP installation, something got screwed up so that the .Net Framework is not working properly, as I had similar problems with the iTunes Controller. Looks like I will have to do a complete installation now anyway

No can do....
I have downloaded the latest 1.0.1935 and I am using it on the latest DS 1.05 b90.
The 5 currencies remains GBP,EUR,JPY,NZD,RUB,USD. I wonder if it updates at all since the numbers hasn't changed... Do you think it has anything to do with me being using a proxy? (the weather and also newsroom works fine..)
Hope to solve it.. it's a very nifty program!

Same here Windows XP SP1, DS 1.05b90, CER 1.0.1935.
Currency Exchange Rate unchanged after changing to Canadian Dollars. Still shows same currencies even after changing.
Properties windows still pops up on the left hand side of the sidebar - even if the sidebar is docked to the left hand side of the screen. (rendering it off screen ...)

I have build 90 and upon install, I get a black box at the top of the Sidebar with UK flag. I get an error when installing saying "impossible to create panel ExchangeRate -- Do you want to disable the plugin ?"
But at the same time, it was asking me if I want to install it just for me or for everyone. And after I say yes to the error, a window tells me that it was correctly installed !!
After that, the black box just stay there but when right clicking in it, the menu of the underlying plugin appears (meteo and shutdown in my case). After 1 minute, the black box disappeared (I suppose with the refresh cycle of Sidebar).
UPDATE : I was using another language. I switched back to english and got the same kind of error except that it was also telling me that there was a problem with IPanel. I disabled the IP panel but got the same kind of problems. So, I really don't know what's going on.

Greetings,
I like the currency panel and use it everyday, but I miss some currencies
such as the Georgian Lari (no, not the US state but the caucasian country).
I was searching trough the list for a long time but it doesn't exist. So I wanted
to make two comments

1. Please sort the list of the currencies alphabetically, actually it's a mess.
2. Give opportunity to add new currencies or please I beg to add this one:
(GEL, Lari, USDGEL=x works fine in stock panel but i like the c.exch. panel
much more, current rate:

Hi
I use a dark skin (Fluorescence). This excellent panel appears to display it's text in black - rather than choose the foreground colour from the skin - which means I cannot read it!? I am using Version1.05 build 92 (beta). Any suggestions?

It's because the panel doesn't use the skin's font color. You can easily fix it:
1) Open this file using notepad:
"C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Desktop Sidebar\plugins\ExchangeRate\ExchangeRate.dsskin"
2) Add inherit="panel" to each row which begins with <item name=
Here's an example:
HTML

<appearance name="standard" textShadowOffset="0"
textMultilineShadowOffset="0"/>
<appearance name="hover" textShadowOffset="0"
textMultilineShadowOffset="0"/>

<appearance name="standard" fillStyle="bitmap"
fillImage="flags/1.gif"/>

After changing all items save the file, restart Desktop Sidebar and the problem is fixed
