Still looking good.
It'd be nice to be able to select which leagues/sports you want it rotate through instead of just one at a time. Just a simple menu under the Panel Properties with checkboxes to enable/disable leagues.
Look forward to getting the NHL, NBA, and NCAA Hoops in there. I like my ticker applet from The Score and all but, it's nice to get something in there that's more DS-ish.

Picking Leagues might be a little difficult because cbs sports line doesn't order their scoreboard by league and there would be no easy way to do that dynamically.
I'm thinking about making it so you can have all the sports cycling at once if you wanted and be able to turn off certain sports.
NHL, NBA and NCAA Hoops will all be available in the next release
any other suggestions?

That's really basically what I was meaning anyways. One panel that scrolls all the sports you want and can ignore ones you don't. Even then, right now I have two instances running, one for NFL and one for NCAAF. If all else fails I suppose one instance for each still isn't bad I suppose.
Well done, at any rate. This was one thing DS was severely lacking.

Don't think it would be easy, but it would be cool if you could click on the score in order to pull up the CBS Sportline page for the game.

I tried all 3 sports to no avail. I also clicked refresh each time.
This may be proxy related. I was using the previous version of SportsCaster yesterday at home (where there is no proxy). Today, I installed the new version here at work where I have a HTTP proxy. However, the other panels in DSB are working fine. Does SportsCaster inherit the proxy settings as set in DSB? Thanks!

I just started a thread and requested something like the picture is showing and got directed over here. I like your plugin but I have some suggestions....
1) Have all games at the same time, instead of a slideshow...
If you're just interested in one of the games, you can scroll down to it (if you want to keep the list short I mean...
2) If possible, display time and period of the game as well...
I don't know, just something to think about maybe
BUT THE MAIN THING

I NEED NHL Scores!!!
What kind of site would you need to grab the scores from?
Here's the a pic of my thoughts and the thread I started:

What can I say... you got it spot on.... GREAT WORK!
Couple of things that I've noticed in these couple of minutes that I've tried it...
1) Islanders/Rangers game, the clock is messed... no biggie, thought I'd let you know.
2) Is it even possible to have a feature of viewing all games at the same time? I mean, have all in one tall space, and if you need the space, switch to the cycle? or make tall enough for 2 games and scroll the rest.
Other than that, just a fenomenal job...
Oh! Is the Alerts working? On score change?

Wow.
Fantastic. This is good stuff here, this new version.
I love being able to select sports to scroll through, and the Watch Games option seems a bit weird and questionable at first until it dawns on you that you can flag ANY games you want on any given night (just for that night), and for a true sports nut that's freaking amazing once you remember that your interests may lay well outside just your home team for a game or two sometimes.
For instance, if I'd wanted to randomly track the Isles/Rangers tonight for some reason, I could have. I normally wouldn't care less about either teams, except it's Isles/Rangers and a big rivalry, so maybe just for tonight I'd like to keep an eye on it. And you can. That's great, and one of those little things you take for granted...
A couple minor niggles.
1) Can we get the sport initials capitalized at the top of the panel (MLB, NFL, NHL, etc). Right now they're all lower-case. It just reads better if the initials are all caps.
2) Similarly, can we get the bottom line ("Final" or $time left) tabbed or shifted over a couple more spaces to the right? Really minor thing, I know. Again, just readability for when you're taking a glace at the ticker...
3) Is there any way to keep the panel from kinda' skipping around from sport to sport and back? I'm betting it's because it's scraping mutliple sports at the same time, and the results all mix in together in the same spot that it pulls from? I don't know how much of a PITA it'd be to get the results sorted before they're cycled through. It's not a big deal obviously, it'd just be icing on the cake.
Great work though. Even Konfabulator doesn't have a multi-sport ticker still (not for Windows version anyways), so DS having one is a coup of proportions I'm not sure many will realize right away.

Hey,
I got another request, sorry...
Is there some way to have an option to add all the games to the "watch"-list... select all maybe...
Maybe it's even possible to have it add the new games as well...
I'm sorry, I like to keep track of all games in one night...

Excellent, excellent, panel.
One request...since you said that these scores are taken from cbssportsline.com, would it be possible to allow scores to be clicked on and be taken to the cbssportsline page (i.e box score and game update)? i guess this would only be the case for games that are final.
Just a thought, but it would be really cool.
Also, how about setting up tabs so that each sport has it's own tab? Not sure how difficult, but just another thought (and request)

. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking about making it so you could view the game cast if you click on the game, would that work for you?
Also, Tabs might be a good idea, I was trying to think of a way to sort the watched list and tabs might be the best way. Thanks for the idea

Oct 27 2005, 08:04 AM
Watching the gamecast would be an added bonus! That would be sweet. i figured just making a clickable link to the post-game box score and recap wouldnt be too hard. if both are feasible that would be even better
I agree...tabs for the watched games would be nice. But, your the programmer, not me, and so I'm thankful for whatever you're willing and able to do. Excellent job again, excellent job.

Suggestion: Maybe put an option in the preferences on whether to see the bar at the bottom there or not. The colors are just kinda annoying compared to everything else, lol.
