Crap, I wish I gave some of you more time on this one since a $1000 giveaway is included. But a Virtual Earth API for commercial use is available and it is free to use for all.

Ebay Windows Develope Center.
Can interface nicely with .NET. Needs (free) signup. API is free for a number of limited API calls per month (after that it will just deny the calls).
To get started, look at the checklist on the righthand side of the page.

Indian_Mayhem - as a panel developer, I can tell you that just posting the list of API sites will not help developers. You might want to add information about what to do with that API. For example, I have no idea what is your idea regarding the Speech SDK.
Indian_Mayhem
The ideas are endless. Just figured it would be nice to have a thread that atleast captured some of the current APIs so the developers have an idea of what is available.
GoMa
Yeah but an API without anything to do with it is useless. JMHO. smile.gif

Microsoft Telephony API: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....apitspimspi.asp

Quick question, can't we "borrow" the widgets that are being made for Yahoolator?
yyy
Yahoolator ? huh.gif You mean Yahoo Widgets Engine? How do you want to borrow the Widgets? It's impossible to add them to DS.

BTW, I saw a new Yahoo Maps Widget for Yahoo Widgets Engine (formerly Konfabulator) - that probably means that a Maps Widgets is possible using the Yahoo API - that can be interesting.
Indian_Mayhem
More like porting some of the ideas to DS panels.
yyy
Oh, OK. Most of their Widgets are similar to the existing DS panels. I'd like to see a maps panel like the maps Widget - maybe I'll do one once.

EDIT:
Yes - it's possible to get the map's image using the Yahoo API: http://developer.yahoo.net/maps/rest/V1/mapImage.html That should be really easy to create a panel for that smile.gif

Plug-in Development Kit (for C++), Direct Link. Note - Plugins FOR the player itself, need IPC for DS panel.

AIM has JUST released an SDK using COM!!! You can now write custom clients using the AIM network.

I might take this one up (if another dev wants to get going right away, just let me know so I don't start it), but here is a link to the site:

Yahoo Mail has opened up. Usable in .NET (C# etc.)

I tried to find out if it's usable in JavaScript too, seems not without a lot of integration work. I'd have done it, otherwise (JavaScript panels are much easier and quicker to code).
