Full Version: Command Line Panel Works Slowly

Can we get a lighter version of the Command Line panel? Like the one which came with b. 94? I think that the new features causes it to slow down.

Starting from yesterday, the Command Line panel has caused my DS to use approximately more than 98% of the CPU - it totally slows down the system. Now I'm not sure it's a bug since it worked perfectly until yesterday (apart from a few random crashes once in a while) so I didn't post it in the Bugs forum. BTW, DS freezes when I try to remove the panel.

I really appreciate the new features of the Command Line in recent versions but I'm not using them and I believe this really slows the panel. For example, every time I typed "a" it starts checking the A: drive blink.gif

I hope it's possible. I really like this panel and it's really frustrating now that I can't use it. I thought about creating one by myself but rebuilding this great panel will take months.

After 15 months... blink.gif same request: I'd really use a command line panel, what I don't have a use for are all the features that have been added to the original panel... if they were unobtrusive, fine, but whenever I type in some command it takes a lot of time, even if it's in the history, since the panel desperately checks for anything (start menu, shortcuts, etc.) that begins with those letters, rendering the panel useless for executing just console commands and scripts. Is there any way to turn off the other features or to get the original panel packaged as a new, standalone, "light" command line panel?

I totally agree. I really like the auto-complete feature, but it slows me down significantly. It can be executed on a separate thread - that way, it won't block the UI and we could still type in text while the auto-complete list is filled.
